You can do anything!

In life we are told that we can do anything/we can be anything by the people who love and care about us, as long as we work hard enough. However the same can’t be said for when we grow up and are having to make decisions about the future, then things change, instead of our loved ones telling us we can do anything and bringing our hopes up, they say things like…

“It wouldn’t be practical” or “You wouldn’t be able to handle it”

This is probably, in my opinion, one of the worst things you could ever say to someone. If someone is coming up to you and telling you their dreams and aspirations, and you tell them that they need to “be more practical” or say something about them not being cut out for that type of career, then they are going to hear that every time they try to achieve their dreams. Trust me!

It’s taken me a long time to be comfortable with telling people that I want to become a writer, that I want to write for a living because it’s something that I’m passionate about, a couple of years ago I had people telling me that I’d never be able to do it, that it’s hard work and I should do something else. I also had parents basically telling me that I’m choosing the wrong things at college, and that I should be doing something that pays well.

I understand that parents want their kids to succeed, most of the time succeeding means making the most money, so I understand why my parents wanted me to do something that made a lot of money. But I don’t think anyone should take money over happiness!! Do something that you know you’re going to want to do for as long as possible, even if it doesn’t make you ridiculously rich at least you’ll have fun doing it.

never put down other people and take happiness over money

I know this isn’t the best second post, but this topic has been bugging me a lot lately. Always tell people to follow their dreams and always follow yours as well. I know a lot of people that have given up on something they are passionate about because they feel like they won’t be good at it or because people have told them to go for something safer. I hope that those people go for something that they are passionate about again, also I want everyone that’s reading this to do something today that’ll take you closer to your dreams, make it a goal for today that you’ll learn to play the guitar if you want to be a guitarist, or take an online course in something that you love, or like me you’ll start writing again, because you love writing.

I know this post was all over the place and it’s on a topic that most adults probably don’t even think about (it feels weird calling myself an adult) but I hope it helps someone out there to go for something that they want, because that’d be awesome!

What is your goal in life? Is there something you’re trying to achieve? If you think this jumble of words will help someone you know then please share it with them! Maybe it’s the push they need.

Nicely written and very sensitive towards the subject. You’re doing a great job of making the most of and learning from your setbacks in life. As long as you try hard, nobody has the right to complain x

p.s. I have cool hair, can I be on your blog? 😉
