Fallout 4 making mistakes??? | Gaming news

Wow! I’m being consistent with my Friday uploads ^_^ (I’m so proud.)

This week I talked about the game that I’ve been in love with for the past two weeks! Heroes Of The Storm (or HotS.) So heroes is a MOBA style game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. If you follow me on Twitter (@JordanMclen) then you know how bad I am at this game, but also how much I love it. I honestly wasn’t expecting to like it, just because I’ve dealt with games of this genre like League of legends and a tiny bit of Dota 2. But I think Heroes is is doing enough that is different to actually warrant me playing it and enjoying it. In my video I talked a bit about the new update that is coming to Heroes and what it’s going to add. The main thing I am most excited about is the new map that is going to be added. Not only does the map look absolutely amazing, but it also has an interesting map goal. The other interesting thing being added with this update is the new Diablo 3 character ‘The Butcher’ This character looks freaking gruesome as hell (pun intended.) I’m not a big melee person but I’ll still give him a go to see how he plays compared to the other character.

Moving onto Fallout 4, there has obviously been a lot of talk about the Fallout franchise because of the announcement that Fallout 4 is going to be a thing! But with that being said it’s still kind of sad that it won’t be coming to last gen consoles. As I said in my video, I’m in two minds about this announcement. Firstly I’m kind of sad for everyone that doesn’t have a next gen console or pc good enough to play the new Fallout game, but also I’m excited to see what it actually looks like and plays like on the next gen consoles. Because they have made this game with the new ps4 & xbox one in mind then it makes me think that the graphics are going to be fantastic and maybe there will be some cool features that take the touchpad into effect??? Either way I can’t wait for E3 because I’m sure we will (hopefully) get some footage of the game and how it plays!

If you’d like to watch my video where I talk more in depth on these subjects then please do!

I hope you all have an amazing day! There are going to be some exciting things coming soon so watch this space ^_^

star wars the old republic swtor

Are you a star wars fan? Then I’ve got just the game for you! SWTOR

A couple of days ago was Star Wars day, or better known as May the 4th be with you. Basically if you decided not go one any social media sites yesterday (or for the past couple of years) you have no idea what I’m talking about, I’ll assume you know. Seeing as Star Wars day is a thing I decided it’d be a great idea to download and play Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR) as did a lot of other people.

Star Wars the old republic is an mmo brought to you by BioWare and LucasArts (I’ve talked about BioWare a lot lately) I was kind of hesitant to download this game because I honestly thought my laptop wouldn’t be able to handle it. But surprisingly it does a pretty good job. I’ve probably only played an hour or so of SWTOR but so far it’s really good. The character creation is kind of lacking on the free account but that’s a given seeing as it’s free, you are also locked out on the races that you can actually pick.

There are 4 different classes to chose from for each ‘faction’

for the galactic republic you get to chose between

  • Jedi Knights
  • Jedi Consular
  • Smuggler
  • Trooper

And for the Sith Empire you get

  • Sith Warrior
  • Sith Inquisitor
  • Bounty Hunter
  • Imperial Agent

If you wanna check out the game to see if you’d like to play through the story yourself then you can check it out here: SWTOR

If I’m still playing this game in a month then I’m definitely going to do a more in depth look into the story and characters. Hope you all enjoy the game if you do check it out.

Dragon age Inquisition free dlc

Free DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition? Yes please!

So if you don’t already know, Bioware have decided to release a free, yes I said free! DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition. If you don’t know what DA:I is then honestly you’ve probably missed out on (imo) one of the best games to be released in 2014.

The DLC is called ‘Dragonslayer’ and is being released for download as of today. So if you have Dragon Age and you enjoyed it as much as the rest of us did then you should definitely go download this DLC.

BioWare are planning to do a livestream over on their Twitch channel to showcase some of the features of the new content and you can check it out over at: BioWare Livestream

Galaxy Zero & Final Fantasy Record Keeper

I go through MANY iOS games, I’m constantly deleting and reinstalling them because I get bored of them but then forget why I got bored of them in the first place, this has been a real 1st world problem of mine lately, apart from when it comes to Galaxy Zero & Final Fantasy Record Keeper. These two games honestly haven’t offered me anything new in terms of gameplay or game mechanics, but I love them. I will literally play them every opportunity I get.

1_galaxy_zero

So let’s start off with Galaxy Zero. This game is a simple arcade style fighter plane game that takes repetitive scenarios but makes you want to keep playing. I have to admit I really love this genre, I have no idea why because it’s pretty dumb but this game offers the best of it. The music is really fun and light, it’s the kind of music that you’d expect of a game like this but it’s still pretty good. I have to admit though that I’ve skipped over pretty much all of the dialogue because I just want to go on a space adventure and shoot stuff, I think that the dialogue is probably one of the weakest aspects, so it’s great that you can just quickly tap the screen to get rid of it.

Final fantasy record keeper is an interesting game, I’m a big final fantasy nerd as you know from my last post about final fantasy 14. Final fantasy record keeper is an iOS game developed by ‘Square Enix’ and published by ‘DeNA’. I wasn’t expecting to like this game as much as I did. The 8 bit style of this game is the same style as some of the old old final fantasy games which is an awesome throwback for a game which is primarily a giant throwback. For someone that is really big on reading and books and stuff I again skipped the dialogue or I at least can’t particularly remember the dialogue, so again I’m gonna say that it’s one of the weakest aspects of this game, especially if it’s not something that’s memorable. The gameplay is okay, it’s nothing amazing or mind blowing but it’s definitely fun. Being able to collect different characters from the ff universe, or just randoms is pretty cool. The music in this game is pretty cool and reminds me of times when I used to play final faFinal-Fantasy-Record-Keeper3ntasy 8 and get super annoyed by constantly dying at stupid enemies (yes I was terrible at the game) But again it’s nothing new. All in all this game isn’t bad but it isn’t great either, it’s a pretty standard game but I mean if you’re like me and you love the Final Fantasy franchise then you should totally go get this free game.

If you liked what you’ve read and think the games that I’ve mentioned are for you then check out the links at the end of this post because both of these games are super free, and I mean you should definitely try them, give them your own opinion and stuff. I don’t know.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I speak to you all next time.

Final fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn! First impression.

final fantasy xiv: A realm reborn

As most of you probably know I’m a huge nerd! I love video games and reading fantasy books and weird strange music that doesn’t make much sense. But to show you how much of a nerd I am I thought I’d make another first impressions post about a tiny little game called FINAL FANTASY 14: A REALM REBORN!

If you don’t know what ff14 is, it’s a mmorpg set in the world of Eorzea. This game has been out for a while, it was first released in September 2010, however because the quality of the game was so badly criticised they decided to scrap it and start fresh. A new team led by Naoki Yoshida took over the development of the title, also creating a brand new game which addressed all of the original games weaknesses.

Fast forward to 2015 and here I am finally playing the game and enjoying the heck out of it! The scenery and art style is amazing! The animations when using skills (or dancing) is so good! I don’t think I’ve been this impressed with a mmorpg in forever! I definitely know I haven’t played one for as long as I’ve played this.

I’m not that far into the story yet but what I’ve played of it seems interesting, just the way they have portrayed the characters and the plot is really well done, and it’s something you actually want to read, whereas in most mmo’s you usually just skip over the story so you can get cool gear and fight big ass bosses.

Creating your own character is kind of a long process, which honestly is a good thingff14 character creation. There’s a lot of different options to choose from and the different races are all so awesome and adorable! The description of the races and classes are detailed and interesting, so much so that I think this is the first game where I’ve wanted to play something other than an elf mage!

I’ve really enjoyed playing final fantasy 14, I think it’s a pretty good final fantasy game, especially coming from final fantasy 13. It’s probably one of the best mmorpgs I’ve ever played/ever will play and I’m honestly contemplating paying for a subscription (don’t judge me!) If you want to check out final fantasy xiv: A realm reborn then I’ll leave a link at the bottom of the page.

Hope you all have a great day!

Marshmallow cheesecake I made for Mother's Day

Marshmallow Cheesecake

Cheesecake is probably one of the best things ever created, whoever thought of putting cream cheese and sugar and biscuits together to make a cake is the best!

For the cheesecakes base you need:

  • 125g of crushed digestive biscuits
  • 60g of melted butter

Pre heat your oven to 130

You’ll want to combine the crushed biscuits and the butter together and place it into a baking tin, bake for at least 8 minutes or until the edges turn a light golden brown colour. You’ll need to let it cool down a bit before putting the cheesecake mixture in it, so stick it in the fridge until needed.

For the actual cheesecake mixture you’ll need:

  • 1 pack or about 40 regular sized marshmallows
  • ¾ cups of milk
  • 453g of cream cheese
  • Some whipped cream

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese or use an electric mixer and leave it on for a while whilst getting the marshmallow mixture prepared.

On the stove in a saucepan you’ll want to melt the marshmallows and milk together over medium heat. You’ll need to stay with it and keep stirring it every so often for about 10 minutes, or until all the marshmallows are gone.

Remove this from the heat and allow it to cool, stop mixing the cream cheese and leave it to rest.

Once the melted marshmallow mixture is cool add it to the whipped cream cheese and combine.

If you want you can add some whipped cream to the mixture, just make sure you fold it in instead of mixing it.

Take the crust out of the fridge and pour in the cheesecake mix.

Level it off and put it in the fridge and let it set for a couple of hours. (I left mine overnight so I can’t really say how long exactly)

DONE! Now you can either decorate it however you want…..or you can devour it completely. 😀

Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I enjoyed the cheesecake!

Have a great day!

Dragonball xenoverse? Game of the year?

Dragonball Xenoverse? Game of the year?

I’ve been a dragonball z fan for years! I used to run home after school so that I could catch it on T.V and I loved it. Hearing that there was going to be another dragonball z game however I wasn’t that bothered because I thought it was going to be another instalment of the budokai franchise, however doing a bit of digging around I became insanely excited about this game and pretty much bought it as soon as it came out. This is my first impression of dragonball xenoverse, I hope you enjoy!

The first hour or so of the game is very repetitive, you either join up with someone and help them take downDragonball xenoverse goku the bad guy(s) or your mission is to kill x number of enemies. I mean there’s not really anything else you can do with a game like this but I thought there would be some amazingly awesome feature…but I mean you do get to create your own character so that’s cool!

Creating a character is so awesome, you get to be a part of the dragonball z universe and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. More games should go down this path of making them more multiplayer friendly. If the harry potter franchise had a game where you could make your own character and go around Hogwarts learning new spells and charms and exploring the entire harry potter universe and doing quests and just do anything you wanted to then I would pay £100 for it (no lie) Basically what I’m saying is I want a harry potter mmo that’s truly amazing and fantastic!

I’m super happy that it’s not just on pc! But that simply comes down to the fact that my poor laptop wouldn’t be able to handle it, but I don’t think it’s that intense of a game, it’s just my laptop is terrible (I’m sorry lappy please don’t die.)

The game is actually a challenge, which is great because I feel like unless you’re playing something like dark souls or lords of the fallen then games lately aren’t challenging at all, maybe it’s because game developers are afraid of giving their audience too much of a challenge and getting a lot of backlash because of it, or maybe it’s just simple laziness. But dragonball xenoverse is definitely a challenge and I love it. Don’t get me wrong it’s nowhere near as challenging as the games I mentioned previously…but it’s still fun.

The voice acting is super strange to me, sometimes it’ll be normal and then other times it’ll be like the same character has a completely different voice and it is super weird. I don’t know if it’s a different voice actor for the cut scenes compared to the actual game or if it’s something else but honestly it’s kind of jarring.

Overall I’m really really enjoying this game so far. The negatives of this game definitely don’t take away from the actual gameplay, they don’t enhance it either but oh well. I will be recommending this game to my friends and everyone that reads this first impression, especially if you’re like me and you’re a dragonball fan.

Why Elementary is Far Superior to Sherlock

thenerdsofcolor

[Ed. note: In most geek circles, the BBC’s modern interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories — starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman — gets most of the praise and attention from fans. In 2012, CBS put its own Sherlock Holmes adaptation on the air in the form of Elementary with Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu as the iconic Holmes and Watson. Needless to say, we at the NOC prefer the latter. Here are ten reasons why. — KC]

Oh yes, I go there.

A day to celebrate black culture.

#Blackoutday

This is going to be a very short post, just because it’s something that I’m all for and I believe in wholeheartedly and so I wanted to kind of shine a light on what this day is about and what it meant for not only me but for a lot of people out there.

On the 6th of March 2015, people of colour participated in #blackoutday all across different social media platforms. This hashtag celebrates black people and black culture in every way possible which is something that needs to be done more, especially when pictures like this are on the internet.

Why we don't need #whiteoutday

The reason that the day meant a lot to me is because it’s something that I’ve never really seen before, yes there is black history month, but for the longest time I felt like we as a community needed to celebrate who we are now, and we did, and it was freaking awesome!

If you would like to read more about what #blackoutday is then I’ll leave a link to the blog that started it all here

I said this post was going to be short and I did not lie, if you enjoyed reading about this then please leave a comment because I would love to write more factual, event type stuff. Trust me they’ll be a lot longer than this one.

Hope you all have a great day!

How to: Live yo life!

A lot of people (myself included) don’t live their life to its full potential. We miss out on great opportunities or let our insecurity’s take over because it’s honestly a lot easier that way. We don’t get hurt or rejected and we don’t fail at anything, mostly because we aren’t really doing anything. I hope the main thing that people take away from this post is that you shouldn’t let your insecurity’s stop you from doing what you want to.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself! I think as of right now that’s my biggest problem. Sometimes you just like to have a day to moan about literally everything and everyone, including yourself. But most of the time all that’s going to do is fuel the self-deprecating voice that’s in your head.

Surround yourself with people that make you happy! This is something that I used to struggle with just because I never wanted to hurt anyone’s feelings by telling them to get out of my life, there’s not really a nice way to tell someone that they make you unhappy but sometimes you’ve just got to do it. Put yourself before others sometimes, especially if they aren’t nice people.

Be around the people that make you happy! I know if you’re feeling kind of down then the one thing you don’t want to do is hang out with anyone. But trust me it’ll make you feel 10x better! I can’t count how many times just talking to my friends has boosted my mood and made me feel motivated to actually do something.

Don’t care about what people think of you! Seriously! A lot of people won’t remember that one time you acted super weird, or the one time you fell on your face, so neither should you, either let go of those “embarrassing” memories, or laugh at them, turn them into a joke and you’ll have a much easier time when you remember them at 3A.M.

Be happy! I think this is the most important thing to remember, sometimes you’ve just go to tell yourself to shut up and start smiling. This is going to make me sound completely insane but usually I’ll stand in front of a mirror and just start smiling and laughing like a mad man, eventually you’re going to actually start laughing at yourself and it’ll cheer you up. Well it cheers me up.

So that’s my advice! If you have anything else to add then please leave it in the comments below! What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to get over?
