This is going to be a very short post, just because it’s something that I’m all for and I believe in wholeheartedly and so I wanted to kind of shine a light on what this day is about and what it meant for not only me but for a lot of people out there.
On the 6th of March 2015, people of colour participated in #blackoutday all across different social media platforms. This hashtag celebrates black people and black culture in every way possible which is something that needs to be done more, especially when pictures like this are on the internet.
The reason that the day meant a lot to me is because it’s something that I’ve never really seen before, yes there is black history month, but for the longest time I felt like we as a community needed to celebrate who we are now, and we did, and it was freaking awesome!
